Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the Craniosacral system.
The Craniosacral system comprises membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and the spinal cord. The cranial therapist’s aim is to encourage and nurture the body’s own natural healing system and to restore balance and well-being to its natural state. The practitioner gently places their hands up and around the sacrum, moving along the spinal column working towards the head while attentively evaluating the cranial rhythm. This rhythm is central to the nervous system. Any restrictions within the rhythm may indicate the body being out of balance and not functioning to its total ability. Releasing the restrictions, while holding the rhythm still, may nurture and restore the body back into balance.
Craniosacral therapy may alleviate symptoms such as:
- Migraines/ headaches
- Insomnia
- Depression
- Chronic pain
- Chronic fatigue
- Tinnitus
- Sinus problems
- Panic attacks
- Anxiety
- Stress
Craniosacral therapy encourages vitality and facilitates a sense of well-being.
A treatment may last from 1 to 1 ½ hours long and may continue weekly until improvement occurs. Clients having had Craniosacral therapy describe the experience as relaxing and peaceful.
